My solution is not clear! |

If your
sample does not immediately dissolve: |

Agitate
the contents of the tube by turning it upside down, then rightside up
again. Do not shake the tube vigorously. |
|
|
|
Try
putting it aside for 15 minutes. Then see if more of your sample has dissolved.
Some materials take some time to dissolve. |
|
|
|
Try
heating the tube slightly. Be very careful if you do this, and do not
exceed the boiling point of the solvent, or the boiling or decomposition
point of your sample. |
|
|
|
If
the undissolved material appears to be your compound, and not an impurity,
and if your solution level if less than 1.5" (3 cm), try adding a
little more solvent. If you solution level is too high, pour a little
out, then add more solvent. |
|
|
|
If
none of the above suggestions works, you must filter the sample. |
|
|
|
|
