PREPARING YOUR SAMPLE | ||||
How do I know whether the solvent resonances will interfere with those of my sample? | ||||
Assuming that you have some idea of the identity of your sample, consult Possible Overlap Regions for Common NMR Solvents. This chart shows structural groups for which chemical-shift overlap might be a concern. An indication of a possible overlap does not mean that a particular solvent should not or cannot be used if that structural group is present. These groups resonate over a wide range, and solvent exhibit very specific resonances, so it may be possible to distinguish solvent from sample peaks. |
